Our Story

Our story began when we noticed that plastic straws are used once and then end up in our landfills and oceans, where they harm marine life and release toxic pollutants -- we can even trace microplastics in our food sources.

We started to search of an alternative of plastic straws, which is single-use and 100% biodegradable and not made of bioplastic. When we discovered straws made from straw, we were surprised that they were used even in Tang Dynasty (A.D. 618-907) more than 1,113 years ago as recorded. We then went around wheat planting area of China and finally found the best kind of straw to drink liquid -- larger diameter and strong fibre. Plus, we found a special type of reed with large diameter and hollow stem, what a fantastic drinking straws for smoothie!
